menopause support

Menopause is the time in a women's life when her body discontinues producing estrogen and includes "peri" and "post" menopause .  Menopause  occurs after 12 months without a period.

During the transitional phase of perimenopause, it is important to recognize the unique psychological and emotional factors such as mood fluctuations, anxiety, and physical discomfort that can disrupt.  It is essential to create a supportive therapeutic environment that acknowledges and validates  experiences, promotes open dialogue about health concerns, ultimately enhancing overall well-being and quality of life.

Many women find this time as an opportunity to reasses their priorities and cultivate the life that they may only have dreamed of.

In addition to my skills as a therapist, I also am a Certified Health Coach with the ability to help you. re-balance your life as you move into this next stage.  Using the Wheel of Health, we will assess what areas. of your life to focus on to get you moving towards a more fulfilling life.

self love

One of the biggest questions I have found clients ask is "How do I love my Self?"  That is a question for the ages that has no easy answer.  My response is, "It's a life-long journey" that begins at our birth and ends with our last breath.

I'm sure you have heard the phrase " you need to love yourself before you can love somebody else".  For most people this is an indescribable concept because the idea of "self" is a state of being.  "I breathe, therefore I AM".  You mean there is another dimension? What am I missing?

However, from the concept of psychology, self-love means having a high regard for your own well-being and happiness. Self-love means taking care of your own needs and not sacrificing your well-being to please others.

Self-love is a state of appreciation for oneself that grows from actions that support our physical, psychological and spiritual growth. Self-love means having a high regard for your own well-being and happiness. Self-love means not settling for less than you deserve.

Gaining self-love involves a conscious effort to treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding you would offer a cherished friend. This can be achieved through practicing self-care, setting boundaries, forgiving your self, and practicing self-compassion.

In our culture, many of us were not raised to think of ourselves first. Often, as children, we did not receive the sense of safety and security to explore the wonder of childhood with the feedback that allowed us to feel special and important.  Remember, you were always taught to share! Even if you didn't want to!  The delight of enjoying something for yourself was considered self-ish.

Children are resilient, but resilience is only one strength. Resilience can take you well into adulthood,  but by midlife, especially at peri-menopause, we're depleted.  We've been resilient through the "adulting" period. We've climbed the mountain and may have even reached a pinnacle, but often we look around and say, "How did I get here?".

For women, this question comes up against menopause. If there was ever a time for self-discovery, it's the menopause journey. You get to say no, push back, and finally define who you are and what you want!

I'm available to help you get started.
